Creating A Multi-Genre Author Website for @ShelleyWilson72 #YA #Nonfiction

Today we are sharing our website design for author Shelley Wilson who writes both motivational non-fiction as well as young adult fantasy fiction (written as S.L. Wilson). This presented a fun design challenge as we needed to provide a website to fit the needs of a multi-genre writer.

Introducing: www.shelleywilsonauthor.co.uk

Shelley Wilson Website: Home

We decided to create a simple, clean design using a black and white color scheme. The site is also designed as a “full screen” site with zero to minimal scroll. The result? A powerful, professional, and elegant look which suits all genres and allows the website to easily expand in the future.

Shelley Wilson Website: About Page

The About page—A fun and simple, yet effective, presentation of the author.

Shelley Wilson Website: Book Cover Gallery

It’s all about the books: We created a Non-Fiction and a Fiction page featuring oversized images of Shelley’s current titles. Each graphic opens to the book’s information and each page is designed to match the design of the book. Above is the Fiction page.

Shelley Wilson Website: Fiction Book Page

In-depth details: After clicking on a title, a new page opens showcasing all the book’s information. Featured is Shelley’s latest release Guardians of the Sky.

Other Website Features:

Nothing says “thank you” to your readers better than giving back. We developed Shelley’s newsletter program to include some fun freebies for both YA and Non-Fiction, with the option to choose both or either newsletter.

The Fun Five:

1  What part of the world do you come from?

I grew up in rural North Central Illinois on the outskirts of a small town of about 1,400 people.

2  What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a lot of things, but here are a few of them:  fashion designer, book translator, writer, pathologist, a soldier, and a nun.  I sew clothing for people, learned a few languages, served in the Army, studied forensics, and am now an author.  I sat down last year and realized, “Wow.  The little girl did nearly everything she hoped for.”  I don’t think I’ll ever make sainthood though!

3  List three words to describe yourself.

Pensive, reminiscent, witty

4  Who would play you in a film about your life?

Blurb:

Seventeen-year-old Elena lived a vibrant life with a great boyfriend and great friends. Little did she know that turning in her pom-poms was the least of the changes she would experience in the upcoming year. Life-changing, heart-shattering circumstances would soon cause her happy life to crumble right in front of her.

The once fun-loving Elena retreated into herself, finding it easier to push people out than chance more heartache. Just when she figured out how to keep herself busy enough to ignore the imperfections of her life, Finn Kerrville showed up with one mission: to prove that life could be more than disappointment and betrayal. Life could be fun and exciting. Life could be unexpected. Life could be forgiving.

About Meet Me In Paris

What does a romance novelist do when she loses her own happily ever after? Take a lover and travel to Paris, obviously. Or at least this is what Juliette Sobanet did upon making the bold, heart-wrenching decision to divorce the man she had loved since she was a teenager. This is the story of the passionate love affair that ensued during the most devastating year of Sobanet’s life and how her star-crossed romance in the City of Light led to her undoing. Meet Me In Paris is a raw, powerful take on divorce and the daring choices that followed such a monumental loss from the pen of a writer who’d always believed in happy endings…and who ultimately found the courage to write her own.

About Guardians Of The Dead

When sixteen-year-old Amber Noble’s dreams begin to weave into her reality, she turns to the mysterious Connor for help. His links to the supernatural world uncover a chilling truth about her hometown and a pact that must be re-paid with blood. As her father alienates her, and the Guardians take her best friend, her true destiny unfolds, and she begins a quest that will see her past collide with her present. Drawn deeper into the world of witchcraft and faeries, it is only at the end of her journey that she realises how much she could lose.
